Job Duties

As an Utility Financial Analyst, in general, you would work, both in a team setting and individually, on assignments which involve analyzing the financial condition, financing mechanisms, risk, cost of debt, cost of equity, diversification, and relative cost position/competitive position of utilities. You would also analyze non-utility companies to get a better understanding of the cost structures and incentives in the competitive environment. Assignments would involve rate cases, financing proposals, and special projects. You would testify at public hearings, and make presentations inside and outside the agency. Intermittent travel would be required.

The level of the titles within this career ladder vary based on the level of supervision, complexity of the duties involved, degree of independent judgment, etc.
