Job Duties

DIRECTOR INTERNAL CONTROL NYSIF:  under the general direction of the Chief Fiscal Officer, oversees the Control Management Unit; researches and recommends an appropriate internal control framework; directs the establishment and maintenance of a centralized inventory system for the documentation of internal controls throughout the agency; assesses the appropriate method for automating the centralized inventory system; develops an internal control testing methodology; tests the existing internal controls that impact the Fund’s financial reporting; implements and directs the Fund’s internal control standards policy; develops a remediation policy for addressing any identified control deficiencies; develops protocols and functions in consultation with external auditors during their review and assessment of the Fund’s internal controls; monitors the changes and current trends in internal controls and requirements for State agencies, regulatory authorities and insurers; disseminates current requirements, roles and responsibilities for internal controls to agency staff; and administers an educational program on internal control processes and requirements for agency employees.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

This title is non-competitive.  No examination is necessary.  However, you must still meet the Minimum Qualifications of the position.

Open Competitive: Bachelors Degree in accounting, finance or business administration and seven years of experience in insurance accounting, collections, cash management or auditing.  Two years of the experience must have been at a supervisory level.  Certification as a CPA or possession of an MBA may substitute for two years of the general experience.
