Job Duties

As an Auditor 2 (Medicaid), you would function as a first-level supervisor and conduct reimbursement audits of hospitals, nursing homes, managed care organizations, and other medical facilities receiving Medicaid rates and services that are cost based or subject to audit. Additional audit responsibilities can include internal compliance, or operational audits, and reviews of fraud, waste and abuse activity of providers. You would analyze facility reported costs, data, and statistics that are used in the development of facility specific Medicaid rates and may recommend and develop agency policy and develop standards and procedures for the maintenance, review, and oversight of facility financial records. In addition, you would identify, target, and conduct reviews of providers to ensure their compliance with governing statutes and regulations.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as:

Either A. Auditor 1, Auditor Trainee 1, or Auditor Trainee 2;

Or B. Medicaid Integrity Specialist 1 (Financial Analysis), Medicaid Integrity Specialist Trainee 1 (Financial Analysis), or Medicaid Integrity Specialist Trainee 2 (Financial Analysis) AND have 24 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation. Only courses with the word accounting, auditing, or taxation are considered qualifying.
