Job Duties

As an Associate Actuary (Casualty) in the NYS Department of Financial Services, you would obtain and verify historical experience used in reserve analyses; under supervision, perform basic and intermediate actuarial methods to determine reserve adequacy, create databases, and assist in the review of actuarial reports and regulatory documents. You would review, analyze, and evaluate rates, ratemaking procedures, rating plans, classification plans, and calls for experience and statistical plans for various types of casualty insurance, and utilize and modify computer systems to efficiently perform projects.

As an Associate Actuary (Casualty) in the NYS Insurance Fund, you would supervise Senior Actuaries, overseeing the output of their units and solving complex problems that may arise. You would report to a higher level actuary, assisting in research projects as needed.
