Job Duties

As an Associate Training Technician Police, you would:

Supervise training and support staff assigned to a training specialty or unit.

Prepare or supervise development of training programs for law enforcement, law enforcement support agencies and licensed security personnel.

Liaison with high-level law enforcement officials, the courts, advocacy groups, local governments, nonprofits, and related groups.  

Conduct informational meetings, present training materials or supervise training delivered to law enforcement, security, and related personnel.

Revise training curricula of various basic and in-service training programs to align with changes to training topic policies or procedures.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, the candidate must be a qualified employee of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services or the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Senior Training Technician (Police) or Highway Safety Technical Training Supervisor.
