Job Duties

The Director Bayard Cutting Arboretum uses scientific and technical knowledge to manage and direct the operations, programs, maintenance, and related activities at Bayard Cutting Arboretum and evaluate, plan, and enhance the historic landscapes, buildings, and collections of trees, shrubs, and flowers at the arboreta.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

This title is non-competitive.  No examination is necessary.  However, you must still meet the Minimum Qualifications of the position.

In order to be considered for this position, you must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in landscape architecture, ornamental horticulture, or a closely related field and five years experience, including three years in a managerial capacity in the planning, design, and supervision of an arboretum that includes historic buildings and landscape or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience must include the propagation, acquisition, identification, and classification of plant species and general administration, including personnel, budgeting, and public relations.  Master’s Degree in a closely related field may be substituted for one year of general experience.
