Job Duties

Policy Analysis & Development Specialist 3:  Incumbent will develop policy and research methods to address issues of sex offender management for New York State.  Duties include but are not limited to:  advises the Governor and legislature, through the Director of Sex Offender Management, on the most effective ways to address issues of sex offender management.  Develops and recommends sex offender management policy and interagency initiatives including matters relating to risk assessment; provision of treatment; supervision; and other tools used in the supervision of the offenders.  Coordinates the work of both the Research and Policy and the Training and Public Education Units, ensuring that state agencies, law enforcement, treatment providers, schools and the public are kept well informed and current on the prevention and management of sex offenders.  Works with appropriate agencies to ensure that the civil commitment of sex offenders is implemented in a way that does not endanger of divert needed treatment resources away from traditional mental health patients.
