Summary of Job Description

Toll Plaza Managers perform a wide variety of activities required for the 24 hour-a-day operation and management of assigned toll interchanges and barrier stations.  Typical activities performed include providing oversight of toll operations, supervising staff assigned to various toll facilities, maintaining or assisting in the maintenance of toll equipment and facilities, staff training and work scheduling, monitoring and evaluating internal and cost controls, and customer and employee relations.  The use of this title series is limited to the toll collection operations of the Thruway Authority.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination to be considered for appointment to this position.  

For qualified employees of New York State on or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Thruway Authority or the New York State Canal Corporation, and have had three months permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Toll Collector.
