Job Duties

As an Associate in Professional Education, you would:

Evaluate proposals for new professional education programs and changes to existing programs to ensure compliance with applicable sections of the Education Law, Regents Rules and Regulations and the Commissioner's Rules and Regulations.

Conduct all necessary activities resulting from proposals requiring amendments by the Board of Regents to an institution's charter, certificates or incorporation, or master plan.

Conduct program registration reviews and site visits to postsecondary institutions in connection with professional programs.

Perform in-depth reviews and site visits to postsecondary institutions in connection with professional programs.

Handle complaints related to professional programs from faculty and students.

Develop and revise regulations and guidance materials.

Assist in the development and production of application, practice guidelines and other documents for licensed professions and consumers based on experience in reviewing applications and feedback from interested parties.

Assist in developing new legislation and regulations; review and comment on proposed legislation, regulations and other documents that affect the practice of the professions.

Provide technical assistance on matters related to the license, practice and disciplinary responsibilities of assigned professions.

May supervise Assistants in Professional Education and other staff.
