Job Duties

Directs a major civil engineering program in a mid-sized to large regional facility or has overall responsibility for a statewide civil engineering program in an agency's main office, managing transportation projects complicated by large dollar value, multi-year rehabilitation and/or construction plans. They manage the technical, legal, budgeting, contractual, civil rights, and financial requirements of engineering projects, and supervise multiple levels of engineer positions including licensed staff at Grade 29/M-3, Grade 27, and Grade 24.

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

The examination used to fill this position is called Promotion Opportunities in Transportation Management.  

For qualified employees of New York State, on or before the date of the examination, candidates must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Transportation and have had permanent competitive service in a position allocated to G-27/M-2 or higher.
