Job Duties

As a Supervisor Plant Operations & Maintenance, you would:

Oversee and manage statewide facility physical plant and maintenance operations.  

Supervise Plant Superintendents located in facilities throughout the State; reassign staff to address health and safety issues; identify training needs, and participate in the development of training.

Provide overall functional direction in the operation of power, water filter, and sewage treatment plants; building and grounds maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and construction activities; and transportation maintenance, repair, and inspection.

Develop, revise, and implement policies and procedures, including those related to preventative maintenance, work order, inventory and stores control, management reporting, inspection, and safety programs and systems.  

Conduct on-site visits to evaluate and monitor physical plant and maintenance operations; provide technical advice and recommendations to improve operating efficiencies; assess and correct environmental hazards and conditions; and ensure compliance with local, State, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.  

Provide technical assistance to facility staff in the development of standard service contracts and specifications; participates in contract negotiations; manage and oversee contract compliance; and resolve issues associated with the work performed by contractors.  

Assist facility staff in preparing operating equipment and capital budget requests; act as their representative at the Central Office level; prepares and manages annual budgets; and oversee the requisition and distribution of supplies to operating personnel.  

Serve on various facility committees, such as the safety committee.
