Job Duties

As a Dairy Products Specialist 2 (Dairy Equipment), you would serve as a specialist in the design, construction, installation, and operation of milk handling equipment used on dairy farms and in milk processing plants. You would provide technical expertise and instruction to Dairy Product Specialists, and serve on appropriate national level committees including the National 3-A Committee, Dairy Practices Council, and the National Conference on Interstate Milk Shipments committee responsible for approving all food related equipment used within dairy plants and farms.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets and have had three months of permanent competitive service as a Dairy Products Specialist 1, Dairy Products Specialist 1 (Spanish Language), Dairy Products Specialist Trainee 1, Dairy Products Specialist Trainee 2, Dairy Products Specialist Trainee 1 (Spanish Language), or Dairy Products Specialist Trainee 2 (Spanish Language).
