Job Duties

As a Supervising Labor Services Representative (Chinese Language), you would supervise Labor Services Representatives and clerical staff who provide employment services to job seekers and businesses, and provide information and services to Department of Labor (DOL) customers related to Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits pursuant to State and federal laws and regulations and program availability or provide information related to the Unemployment Insurance appeals process. You would interpret and convey information regarding legal decisions and interpretations of UI Law, employment and training legislation, and related policies and programs for staff; ensure the delivery of services to customers; and resolve specific complaints from the claimants, job seekers and businesses.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination,  you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Labor and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a:
