Job Duties

STATE POLICE FORENSIC SCIENTIST 4 DNA:  participates in the training of Forensic Scientists 1 and in-service training of all other levels of Forensic Scientists.  They analyze evidence in exceptionally complex cases; must be an expert in their forensic field, and maintain technical proficiency in and awareness of the latest technical advances.

In addition, as a FORENSIC SCIENTIST 4:  Assigns cases to subordinate Forensic Scientists and will analyze and process evidence in exceptionally difficult cases.  Participates in the training of Forensic Scientists 1 and 2; conducting in-service training of other Forensic Scientists, and periodically conducting training in the latest technical advances in the field of forensics.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

This title is non-competitive.  No examination is necessary.  However, you must still meet the Minimum Qualifications of the position.

Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in the Natural or Physical Sciences and a minimum of six years' satisfactory experience performing the duties of a Forensic Scientist or its equivalent in another laboratory.   A Master's Degree in a Natural or Physical Science or Computer Science may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
