The Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) advises and assists the Governor in developing policies, plans, and programs for improving the effectiveness of the State's criminal justice services. DCJS develops and evaluates New York State anti-drug, crime control, and juvenile delinquency prevention programs, analyzes the operation of any criminal justice agency, upon request by the agency's commissioner, and maintains a central data repository of criminal cases and corrections records, personal appearance data, fingerprints, and handwriting samples. DCJS assists law enforcement agencies and private citizens to search for missing children through the Missing and Exploited Children's Clearinghouse (MECC).
