Summary of Job Description

As a Teachers’ Retirement Examiner 3, you would make salary and service determinations; present seminars to customers; coordinate the resolution of complex legal and administrative issues; implement legislative and process changes; respond to customer inquiries; and perform the full range of supervisory duties over Teachers’ Retirement Examiners 1 and 2.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

For qualified employees of New York State on or before the date of examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Teachers' Retirement System and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55 b/55 c service in a position allocated as follows:

Either A. Teachers’ Retirement Examiner 2;

Or B. Grade 14 or higher in the following Titles: Assistant Actuary, Head File Clerk, Information Technology Specialist 1, Information Technology Specialist 1 (Programming), Office Assistant 3, Office Assistant 3 (Calculations), Principal Clerk, Public Information Specialist 1, Purchasing Assistant 2, Retirement Systems Information Representative 1, or Secretary 2.
