Summary of Job Description

Statisticians assist higher level professionals in applying statistical concepts to the planning of statistical studies.  The major objective of this activity is to provide management with bases for decisions in research and administration through specific descriptive summaries and evaluations of numeric data, usually concerned with a specific program area or subject matter field and initiated in response to program needs and to various mandated activities.  These positions are located in the Workers' Compensation Board and the Department of Labor.

These positions are filled by the Select Job Titles portion of the Professional Careers Opportunities (PCO) examination.

To qualify for Statistician, candidates must meet one of the following options:

Bachelor's or higher degree in Statistics.

OR

Bachelor's or higher degree including or supplemented by 24 semester credit hours in biostatistics, computer science, economics/econometrics, mathematics, operations research, research methods, and/or statistics.
