As a Senior Transportation Analyst, you would design and direct transportation studies; develop new data analysis methods, projects, and programs; and prepare reports of resultant findings from collection and analysis of transportation statistics and information. You would analyze project and program accomplishments related to specific transportation system goals and objectives, and determine potential impact on social, economic, and ecological factors. Additionally, you would provide program support, including the development, review, and analysis of complex studies; document management procedures, update planning guidance and assist in planning development. You may review state and federal legislation and rulemaking and collaborate with other geographic regions, state and federal agencies to support new and growing initiatives. You may facilitate regional requests for funding of capital projects; administer federal- and state-funded programs and conduct fiscal constraint analyses required to maintain federal funding.

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.
On or before date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Transportation or New York State Thruway Authority and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Transportation Analyst, Transportation Analyst Trainee 1, Transportation Analyst Trainee 2, Intermodal Transportation Specialist 1, Intermodal Transportation Specialist 1 (Rail Safety), Intermodal Transportation Specialist 1 (Motor Carrier Safety), Intermodal Transportation Specialist 1 (Bus System Safety), Senior Capital Program Analyst, Program Research Specialist 2 (Transportation), Mapping Technologist 2, Senior Administrative Analyst, Assistant Engineer (Civil/Transportation), Construction Specialist 1 (Transportation),* or Assistant Engineer (Civil).**
