Summary of Job Description

A Support Services Manager 2 directs and monitors the operational activities of a major segment of a program within the Division of Support Services; monitors the facility to ensure that it remains safe, secure, and well maintained; reviews and approves capital improvement and equipment purchases referred by the Director of Support Services; reviews and approves all contracts for equipment purchase and maintenance; develops, prepares, and submits budget and spending plan; prepares budget recommendations to operate and maintain physical plant maintenance and rehabilitation, equipment maintenance and/or replacement and additional staff; plans, implements, and coordinates equipment installations, modifications, and services; analyzes internal processes and recommends procedural or policy changes to improve operations; interprets and communicates work procedures and company policies to staff; oversees the development and implementation of production control policies and procedures governing inventory, storage, and shipping to insure that client's requirements are consistently met; monitors purchases, sales, and inventory levels to ensure accuracy and efficiency; participates in and represents the Warehousing/Distribution Center in labor-management and safety committee meetings with delegated representatives, and serving as the principal representative for the facility in communications or meetings with the general public, supply contractors, manufacturers, and representatives from various State and Federal agencies.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

For qualified employees of New York State, on or before the date of filing applications, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service as a Support Services Manager 1, Supervisor Property & Fleet Administrator, or Supervisor Administrative Analysis; or two years as an Assistant Director, Surplus Food.
