As an Associate in School Nursing, you would provide guidance and technical assistance to school nurses on school health issues; monitor, interpret, synthesize, and communicate relevant information associated with changes in health and medical care, school nursing practice, legislative changes, legal issues that impact schools, and laws, rules, and regulations related to school health; plan and deliver educational presentations regarding school health services to various stakeholders; collaborate and work with various stakeholders to address current and emerging school health issues and needs, and develop and coordinate school-based or school-linked services; respond to proposed legislation and develop policies, regulations, guidelines, and guidance documents regarding school health practices; interpret and apply relevant laws, rules, and regulations regarding school health issues; serve as the State Education Department's liaison and resource expert in school nursing and school health program areas for local, regional, state, and national school health care providers and policy setting groups; and assist in developing Request for Proposals (RFP's) and contracts for the provision of school related health services and programs.

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.
Candidates must have a master's or higher degree; AND
Licensure and registration with the New York State Education Department as a Registered Nurse; AND
Four years of professional experience as a school health nurse (K-12) or as a community health nurse.
