Job Duties

ASSISTED OUTPATIENT TREATMENT COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST 1:  


  • Ensures timely provision of services and that the needs of the outpatient are considered;

  • Ensures utilization of existing services in the community whenever possible; ensures designation of a case manager;

  • Ensures that a reporting mechanism exists for case managers to regularly report program compliance with treatment;

  • Reviews implementation of the court order;

  • Reviews local written reports insuring compliance and the availability of services and medications as required by the Court;

  • Initiates corrective action for program non-compliance or if implementation is not consistent with court order;

  • Reports all program non-compliance to supervisor for inclusion in his/her report to the OMH Commissioner and the Court;

  • Reviews local quarterly reports of the names of individuals served, changes in status including but not limited to the number of individuals who have failed to comply with assisted outpatient treatment, description of material changes in written treatment plans, case manager changes, description of the categories of services ordered by the Court, recommendations to improve the program locally or Statewide, and any other information as required by the Commissioner of Mental Health.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

This title is non-competitive.  No examination is necessary.  However, you must still meet the Minimum Qualifications of the position.

General Experience:

Seven years' professional clinical experience.  (Clinical experience is defined as direct care, treatment, or instruction of patients in a Federal or State operated or licensed mental health program.)

One year of professional experience (either as part of, or in addition to, the qualifying general experience), substantially engaged in performing activities in one or more of the following areas:

- mental health program administration, management or supervision;

- high risk/high need mental health services/systems.


Degree and Licensure/Certification/Registration Substitutions:

1. A Bachelor’s Degree in a human services* field substitutes for four years of general experience.

2. Licensure and registration as a professional nurse (RN) substitutes for four years of general experience.

3. A Master’s Degree, or licensure/certification/registration (other than an RN), in a mental health discipline** substitutes for one additional year of general experience.

*Human Service Degree will include the following:  Community Mental Health, Counseling, Education, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Recreation Therapy, Rehabilitation, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology; or a degree specifically labeled Human Services.

**Mental Health discipline includes:  Child & Family Studies, Community Mental Health, Counseling, Community Services Administration, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Recreation Therapy, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Speech Language Pathology or Audiology, and Special Education.
