As a Highway Maintenance Worker Trainee 2, you would perform routine manual tasks requiring medium to heavy physical effort involving exposure to all kinds of weather conditions. Summer duties involve paving, resurfacing, roadside maintenance, drainage maintenance, traffic control, and other assigned tasks. Will be expected to operate plows during winter operations and to obtain the equipment certifications. Trainees will receive a combination of structured training, on-the-job training, and/or practical job performance to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to function at the full performance level.

This title is non-competitive. No examination is necessary.
Candidates must be 18 years old, pass physical/medical examination and drug test; and possess a Class A or B Commercial Driver License with no airbrake restriction. Candidates will be evaluated on their ability to satisfactorily operate a NYSDOT large dump truck within two weeks of appointment. An examination is not used to fill this title. You must meet the minimum qualifications of the title in order to be considered for this position. You must apply directly to the agency or agencies that have this title.
