Public Buildings Manager 4
As a Public Buildings Manager 4, you would supervise subordinate staff, contract workers, and consultants in a region of the state. You would be responsible for staffing and fiscal plans and budget requests; employee training; implementation and management of policies and procedures; assisting facility managers with problems, complaints, and emergencies; maintaining liaison with local and State Police to develop proper security and safety measures; reviewing and approving capital construction requests; and developing and managing building contracts.

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.
There are two examinations held for this position.
For qualified employees of New York State on or before the date of the examination you must be a qualified employee of New York State Office of General Services and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Public Buildings Manager 3.
For all other qualified individuals, candidates must have eight years of experience supervising the operation, maintenance (including HVAC), minor rehabilitation, and security of an occupied building; five years of such experience must have been in an occupied building with a gross square footage of at least 300,000 or a complex of occupied buildings with a gross square footage of at least 350,000.
