Summary of Job Description

As a Vulnerable Persons Protection Specialist 1, you will answer calls coming into the Justice Center hotline reporting allegations of abuse and/or neglect and/or significant incidents involving vulnerable persons, elicit essential information from individuals making such reports, determine the type of response needed in order to ensure the health and safety of the vulnerable person(s) involved, write a summary of the information received, and forward the incident report to appropriate staff for follow up. Such reports may be from mandated reporters as defined in the Protection of People with Special Needs Act of 2012 or other sources and may be received via phone call or electronic web form.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of filing an application, you must have:

Either 1: associate's degree AND three years of experience in one of the following:

The direct provision of services which includes the care, assessment, treatment, or case planning for persons in facilities or program covered by the Protection of People with Special Needs Act of 2012 - http://www.justicecenter.ny.gov/regulations-guidance/statute OR
the development, implementation, or administration of a program which provides quality assurance, conducts incidents reviews, investigates, or provides treatment in facilities or program covered by the Protection of People with Special Needs Act of 2012 - http://www.justicecenter.ny.gov/regulations-guidance/statute.

OR 2.A bachelor's degree AND one year of the experience described above.
