Summary of Job Description

As a Forensic Services Program Administrator 2, you would oversee the provision of Office of Mental Health services in correctional facility-based programs for a specified geographic area of the state, including supervising Chiefs of Forensic Units 1. You would be responsible for implementing policies and procedures of the Central New York Psychiatric Center and the Office of Mental Health, as well as monitoring compliance with all such policies and procedures. You would coordinate the delivery of Office of Mental Health services with the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS), and maintain cooperative relationships with prisoner advocate groups, attorneys, and other state and local mental health providers.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, candidates must have:  

A master’s degree AND five years of professional administrative experience in a mental health setting, three of which must have been at a supervisory level. At least two years of the five must have been in a forensic setting established for the custodial care and treatment of mental health patients involved with the criminal justice system.

For the purpose of this exam, professional administrative experience is defined as duties focused on the planning, oversight, coordination and operation of programs, or in the fields of personnel management, employee relations, budgeting, fiscal and business administration,
or administrative planning and analysis.
