Job Duties

As a Management Specialist 2 (Children and Family Services), you would supervise and conduct comprehensive audits of programs involving child care, foster care, adoption and adoption assistance, child protective services, preventative services for children and families, protective programs for vulnerable adults, and other social services programs monitored by the Office of Children and Family Services. You would supervise the preparation of preliminary survey work of programs being reviewed and prepare detailed audit programs; meet with local social services district management, service provider or contractor to discuss audit process and findings; prepare, review and edit audit reports and correspondence; may perform field work. You would perform the full range of supervisory duties including approving leave and tracking time and attendance, identifying staff development needs, evaluating staff performance, and completing performance evaluations for subordinate audit staff.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, the candidate must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Management Specialist I (Children and Family Services), Management Specialist Trainee 1 (Children and Family Services), or Management Specialist Trainee 2 (Children and Family Services).
