Job Duties

CHIEF BOILER INSPECTOR: under the supervision of the Director of Occupational Safety and Health, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the operations of the Statewide boiler inspection program; represents New York State as a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and of the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors; represents the Department of Labor as the technical expert in all boiler related activities, including qualifying insurance company inspectors and appearing before the Industrial Board of Appeals and at hearings relative to revocation or suspension of Boiler Inspector Certificates of Competency; and meets with community officials, labor organizations, industrial managers, and other interested parties concerned with boiler safety code implementation.
