Job Duties

As a Social Work Supervisor 2 (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), you would direct a social work program or department. In addition, you may perform all the duties and activities of a Social Work Supervisor 1 (Licensed Clinical Social Worker).

The level of the titles within this career ladder vary based on the level of supervision, complexity of the duties involved, degree of independent judgment, etc.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

For qualified employees of New York State on or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows:

Either A:

Either A.    three months as a: Social Worker Supervisor 1 (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), Social Worker Supervisor 1 (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) (Spanish Language), Social Work Supervisor 1 (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) (Chinese Language), Social Work Supervisor 1 (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) (Korean Language), Social Work Supervisor 1, Social Work Supervisor 1 (Spanish Language), Social Worker Supervisor 1 (Chinese Language), Social Work Supervisor 1 (Korean Language), AND; you must also be currently licensed and registered as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State and clearly indicate this on the application form. At the time of interview, you may be required to provide a copy of your credentials to the appointing authority.

If you were permanently appointed to a qualifying title on or before September 1, 2018, and have served continuously in this title since that date, you are eligible to file for this examination under Option A.

Or B.    two years as a: Licensed Master Social Worker 2, Licensed Master Social Worker 2 (Spanish Language), Licensed Master Social Worker 2 (Chinese Language), Licensed Master Social Worker 2 (Korean Language), or Licensed Master Social Worker 2 (Manual Communications), AND; you must also be currently licensed and registered as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York State and clearly indicate this on the application form. At the time of interview, you may be required to provide a copy of your credentials to the appointing authority.
