Job Duties

STATE POLICE SECURITY SCREENING TECHNICIAN:  Incumbents operate various types of screening equipment, such as walk-through and hand-held magnetometers, in order to screen individuals and objects entering State Government Buildings.  State Police Security Screening Technicians must be knowledgeable of laws associated with possible illegal activities on State property, and may be called upon to physically restrain persons creating an immediate risk to persons or property.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

This title is non-competitive.  No examination is necessary.  However, you must still meet the Minimum Qualifications of the position.

Candidates must:
Be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Be a citizen of the United States.
Possess a valid New York State Driver's License.
Must be certified physically fit to perform the duties of this position.
