Job Duties

As a Director of Municipal Audits, you would function as a director, and direct and manage staff performing on-site field examinations to audit the fiscal affairs of local governments, such as cities, towns, villages, school districts, counties, town justices and clerks, fire districts, special districts, and industrial development agencies, and conduct the final review and approval of audit proposals and examination reports, including special audits; and/or oversee staff providing services such as consultations, reviews, technical assistance, data collection and analysis, fiscal and municipal research, and interpretation of accounting and auditing standards. You would formulate policies and procedures, and allocate resources for the bureau.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of the State Comptroller and have had 60 days of permanent competitive, non-competitive NY HELPS*, or 55-b/55-c service as shown below. If you have received a permanent appointment to a qualifying title listed and served provisionally** in that title immediately preceding your permanent appointment, such provisional service may be counted towards meeting the time in title required for this examination.

Assistant Director Municipal Audits, Municipal Affairs Program Manager 3, Chief                                            Municipal Audits, or Municipal Affairs Program Manager 2.
