Summary of Job Description

Reporting to the Director of the Employee Benefits Division, an Assistant Director Financial Management and Accounting has day to day responsibility for managing the Financial Services Section of the Employee Benefits Division which is comprised of the Financial Management Unit, Accounting Unit and Audit Unit. This position is responsible for the following activities: financial analysis and reporting; collection and payment of funds; audit of benefit programs pertaining to NYSHIP which, with over 1 million covered lives and $7 billion in premiums, is one of the nationís largest health care programs. This position requires the high level management skills in the area of accounting, finance or mathematics necessary to supervise a large staff, ability to develop and execute multi-year/multi-activity operational plans, as well as a significant body of knowledge related both to the environment and operation of large employee benefit programs and the state-of-the-art in this functional area.
