Summary of Job Description

As a Power Transmission Planner 4, you will monitor and evaluate the design, operation, and maintenance of the electric utility transmission system to ensure that utilities are fulfilling their obligation for providing safe and reliable service. Specific areas of review would include transmission system planning studies; transmission and generation facility siting; utility transmission expenditures; and transmission system reliability criteria. You would also investigate major transmission system events and outages as they pertain to ensuring safe and reliable service. You would provide reports to Department management and the Public Service Commission as required, and utilize your expert knowledge of the electric transmission and/or generation utility industries to advance the goals of the agency.

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology AND three years of qualifying experience as described below.

Qualifying Experience: Electric utility system planning or operations with an emphasis on transmission system reliability, including areas such as: conducting system planning studies, performing/reviewing transmission system design, monitoring transmission project construction, or evaluating transmission project costs and budgets.
