As an Associate Engineering Materials Analyst, you would manage the activities of one or more lab units in either the Chemical Laboratory, Physical Laboratory, or manage activities in the Materials Quality Assurance section. In the laboratory, you would manage one or more lab unit supervisors. Each lab unit can perform certain types of specialized testing on engineering materials, schedule test work, check test reports for accuracy and completeness, prepare data summaries, and/or develop new testing techniques. In the Materials Quality Assurance section, you would manage section supervisors responsible for developing agency inspection contracts, develop quality assurance procedures for engineering materials, coordinate inspection, sampling, and inspection services with private inspection agencies, other Bureau and Department units and suppliers, check tests against specifications analyze test data, prepare technical correspondence, and perform related duties. You would perform the full range of supervisory duties over subordinate positions, which includes preparing employee performance evaluations.
