Mental Health Rehab Program Dir 2
As a Mental Health Rehabilitation Program Director 2, you would plan, develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive multi-disciplinary rehabilitation programs at a State operated psychiatric center; and supervise rehabilitation staff in the oversight of rehabilitation service areas, including vocational rehabilitation, competency training, psychosocial support, and residential services.

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.
There are two examinations for this position. Please note: New York State employees may qualify for both.
For employees of New York State, on or before the date of the examination, the candidate must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of Mental Health and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Program Director 1, Supervisor of Rehabilitation Services, or Supervisor of Rehabilitation Services (Vocational).
For all other qualified individuals, on or before the date of the examination, the candidate must have a bachelorís degree in rehabilitation counseling AND eight years of professional experience in comprehensive rehabilitation programs for individuals with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities, three years of which must have been supervisory in nature.
A masterís degree in rehabilitation counseling may be substituted for one year of the non-supervisory experience.
A doctoral degree in rehabilitation counseling may be substituted for two years of the non-supervisory experience.
