Job Duties

REGIONAL COORDINATOR CORRECTIONAL VOLUNTEER SERVICES, under general direction from the Director Correctional Volunteer Services:


  • Coordinates volunteer programs and assists facility volunteer service staff as well as staff in correctional camps, community correctional centers, and field parole offices in the development of volunteer programs in a specific region;

  • Assists in the development and coordination of the department’s volunteer services program, developing new programs and providing for their staffing and implementation;
  • Reviews and recommends changes in individual facility volunteer programs;
  • Recommends installation of programs found to be successful in other facilities;
  • Acts as a program consultant and monitors facility volunteer programs, making recommendations as to effectiveness of personnel;

  • Provides training and assistance to Supervisors Correctional Facility Volunteer Services where necessary;

  • Provides consultation and direction in conjunction with interested community groups and organizations for the efficient utilization of volunteers, and in the development of programs of public information to attract volunteers for specific programs.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must be a qualified employee of New York State and have a minimum of one year permanent competitive service as a Supervisor Correctional Facility Volunteer Services.
