As a Dairy Products Specialist 2, you would supervise Dairy Products Specialists 1; direct regional staff in inspection, rating, auditing and investigation activities. Depending on assignment you would administer the inspection program in an assigned multi-county area of the State; assist in planning and conducting training programs; direct and coordinate regional implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Program; provide technical expertise and interpretation of regulations to ensure uniform application of State and federal laws, regulations and policies; and may implement one or more Statewide programs relating to the dairy industry; or coordinate central office activities which may include duties pertaining to compliance or functioning as the Interstate Milk Shippers Program Supervisor and Food Safety Modernization Act Compliance Coordinator.

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.
On or before the date of the examination, candidates must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets and have had three months of permanent competitive service as a Dairy Products Specialist 1, Dairy Products Specialist 1 (Spanish Language), Dairy Products Specialist Trainee 1, Dairy Products Specialist Trainee 2, Dairy Products Specialist Trainee 1 (Spanish Language), or Dairy Products Specialist Trainee 2 (Spanish Language).
