As a Health Systems Specialist 2 (Social Work), you would conduct and/or facilitate on-site surveys independently or as part of a team by observing and evaluating patient/resident care against established standards; interview staff and review records; investigate incidents and patient/resident complaints; and investigate and gather information on unlicensed health care facility operations.
Typical duties may include evaluating records and billings against applicable laws and regulations; identifying fraud; conducting utilization reviews and audits for medical necessity; making recommendations regarding licensure or certification; recommending corrective measures, sanctions or enforcement actions; drafting and/or reviewing Statements or Notices of Deficiencies, Plans of Correction, investigative reports, and survey information against statewide standards for consistency and quality assurance; gather data needed to recommend enforcement or sanctions regarding facility and provider licensing decisions; clarifying survey protocols for health care providers and evaluating facility applications for the provision of services.
