Job Duties

As an Investigative Specialist 2 (Narcotics), you would supervise a team of Investigative Specialist 1 (Narcotics); perform and monitor the performance of investigations relating to the trafficking of controlled substances according to the rules and protocols established by the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement; obtain documentary evidence; engage the services of law enforcement officials to review records and evidence; and review investigative procedures and techniques used by investigative staff.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

For employees of New York State, on or before the date of the examination you must be a qualified employee of the Department of Health and have had 45 days of permanent competitive, non-competitive NY HELPS*, or 55-b/55-c service as either:

A. an Investigative Specialist 1 (Narcotics), Investigative Specialist Trainee 1 (Narcotics), Investigative Specialist Trainee 2 (Narcotics), Narcotic Investigator 1, or Narcotic Investigator 1 (Spanish Language).

Or

B. an Investigative Specialist 1, Investigative Specialist 1 (Spanish Language), Investigative Specialist Trainee 1, Investigative Specialist Trainee 2, Investigative Specialist Trainee 1 (Spanish Language), or Investigative Specialist Trainee 2 (Spanish Language).

Only the title or titles listed are qualifying.
