Summary of Job Description

PHYSICAL PLANT MANAGER: under the general direction of the Deputy Director, manages all aspects of building, grounds, systems, and equipment maintenance and repair; identifies and corrects deficiencies in park structures and maintenance and implements corrective measures; develops and implements a preventive maintenance program and maintenance and repair policies and procedures; supervises and evaluates contractor performance; develops, implements, and evaluates landscaping and horticultural plans; identifies and prioritizes routine and critical maintenance and repair activities; develops and presents the maintenance and repair budget; supervises skilled and semiskilled crafts workers; evaluates the need for and arranges or conducts training programs to improve skills; and works with staff of the water treatment plant to identify and correct maintenance and plant operations problems.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

This title is non-competitive.  No examination is necessary.  However, you must still meet the Minimum Qualifications of the position.

Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in engineering or industrial management, or an Associate's Degree in engineering technology and two years' experience in construction planning, construction supervision, or plant operations and maintenance for a public or private facility, or four years of such experience; and six years' experience in plant management, with responsibility for construction, operation, and maintenance of a complex facility, and at least two years in a plant management position with full responsibility for the physical plant.
