Job Duties

As a Housing Specialist, in general, you would act as part of a team in the development and management of projects that are sponsored by local social services districts, not-for-profit and charitable organizations to provide suitable housing and services for the homeless. You would be responsible for, or participate in, the development of Requests for Proposals (RFP), the review and evaluation of proposals submitted in response to the RFP, the development of project contracts, and the monitoring of approved projects from start to finish. You might also be responsible for preparing briefings and reports, and representing the NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance with other agencies and the public.

The level of the titles within this career ladder vary based on the level of supervision, complexity of the duties involved, degree of independent judgment, etc.
