An Associate Transportation Analyst is responsible for a major portion of the planning and research program: designs surveys; establishes new and meaningful counter programs; determines and defines systems of local, arterial, and express facilities; derives mathematical relationships necessary for reliable computer traffic simulations; develops theoretical statements of the relationships between vehicle density, volume, and speed and associated cost of accidents; designs programs to measure vehicle-miles of travel; maintains contact with traffic engineers, design engineers, and traffic safety officials of local, state and Federal governments.

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.
The examination used to fill this position is called Promotion Opportunities in Transportation Management.
On or before the date of the examination, the candidate must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Transportation and have had three months of permanent competitive service in a position allocated to G-23 or higher.
