Job Duties

As a Mineral Resources Specialist, in general, you would supervise and evaluate the work of your subordinates including the preparation of work plans, making work assignments and designating work priorities; provide technical services within the Division and to operators, municipalities, other agencies and the public; develop and enhance computerized management information services; take the lead role in extremely complex and controversial studies; and take an active role in modifying and updating regulations and policies to ensure efficient recovery of oil and gas resources while protecting public health, safety and the environment.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, the candidate must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Mineral Resources Specialist 4 or Mined Land Reclamation Specialist 3.
