Job Duties

As a Workforce Programs Manager 2, you would design, implement, and direct large or multiple State and federally funded workforce development and training programs. You would coordinate program operations both internally, and externally with other Divisions, and State agencies. You would communicate with State executive staff, State elected officials, and officers of the federal government; set standards and review and approve policies and procedures for new or revised workforce development and training programs; advise agency managers on policy and budgeting guidelines; direct staff engaged in developing, monitoring and managing contracts, grants, and Requests for Proposals; and set priorities based on Division and agency guidelines.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Labor and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as:

Either A. a Workforce Programs Manager 1;

Or B. a Coordinator Apprentice Training or Employment Services Manager 2.

Only the title or titles listed are qualifying.

If you were permanently appointed to a qualifying title on or before February 13, 2023, and have served continuously in this title since that date, you are eligible to file for this examination.
