Job Duties

As a Temporary Assistance Specialist 3, you would manage the operation of a program or policy within an operational unit or bureau responsible for developing, defining, interpreting, monitoring, and/or implementing State policy and procedures for temporary assistance and work support programs that enhance the economic security of low-income families. You would supervise and provide guidance, direction, and oversight to Temporary Assistance Specialists 2; would plan, organize, and manage work including establishing policies and procedures, establishing goals, choosing projects, and determining priorities; translate business requirements into systems specifications; coordinate with local agencies to achieve consistency and uniformity in program operation; and analyze and/or develop annual workforce plans and budgets.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a:

Temporary Assistance Specialist 2.

If you were permanently appointed to a qualifying title on or before February 13, 2023, and have served continuously in this title since that date, you are eligible to file for this examination.

Only the title or titles listed are qualifying.
