Summary of Job Description

As a Principal Psychologist, you would manage, oversee, and direct a small psychology program or department, or serve as the assistant director of a large psychology program or department; plan, develop, implement, and evaluate psychological programs and services; and supervise Licensed Psychologists and other psychology staff providing a variety of psychological services to individuals.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

For qualified employees of New York State, you must be licensed and registered to practice psychology in New York State AND you must have had permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows:

Either A. three months as a Licensed Psychologist;

Or B. *one year as a Psychologist 2 or Associate Psychologist.

*Candidates for B qualification must have been permanently appointed to a qualifying title on or before June 16, 2019 and have served continuously in the title since that date, to be eligible to file for these examinations.
