Summary of Job Description

Public Health Field Services Representatives perform on-site reviews of public health programs in an assigned geographic region to ensure compliance with State and federal public health laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines; monitor the provision of public health programs and services; provide education and training on public health issues to a variety of groups; and provide technical assistance to local health organizations to develop quality public health outreach, control, prevention, and intervention programs.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

There are three examinations for this position. Please note: New York State employees may qualify for all three.

For qualified employees of New York State: The examinations used to fill this position are called Public Administration Traineeship Transition (PATT) [#00-437], and Public Health Field Services Representative Trainee 1 [#00-464] and the Professional Careers Opportunities  (PCO) [#26-782]

Public Health Field Services Representative Trainee 1 / #00-464:
On or before the date of examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Health and have had three months of permanent competitive, permanent non-competitive,* or 55-b/55-c service as an Aids Program Representative 1, Aids Program Representative 1 (Spanish Language), Aids Program Representative 2, Public Health Representative 1, Public Health Representative 1 (Spanish Language), or Public Health Representative 2.

Only the title or titles listed are qualifying.

For all other qualified individuals: The examinations used to fill this title are PATT and the PCO.
