Job Duties
As an Assistant Director Compensation Claims & Medical Administration, you would assist in directing the Claims Department by overseeing the claims and medical administration functions for assigned program areas; ensure uniform operating procedures and quality assurance standards are met for all assigned program areas; revise and implement departmental policies; monitor and evaluate Claims Department activities, including providing claims metric reports to executives; identify training needs of staff; develop strategies to best mitigate agency claims costs; and revise procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory changes.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.
On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Insurance Fund and have had three months of permanent competitive, non-competitive NY HELPS*, or 55-b/55-c service as a Claims Services Representative 4 or a Claims Services Representative 3. If you have received a permanent appointment to a qualifying title listed and served provisionally** in that title immediately preceding your permanent appointment, such provisional service may be counted towards meeting the time in title required for this examination.
