Job Duties
Intermodal Transportation Specialists (Motor Carrier Safety) are professional positions, requiring specialized training and experience, that oversee intercity bus, school bus, transit, and truck safety. They review compliance with State, federal, and industry safety standards, design and implement truck and bus inspection and auditing programs, design and implement safety programs, and investigate accidents. These positions are classified in the main and regional offices of the Department of Transportation.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.
The examination that is used to fill this position is called Promotion Opportunities in Transportation Management.
On or before the date of the examination, the candidate must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Transportation and have had three months of permanent competitive service in a position allocated to G-23 or higher.
