Supvg Offender Rehabilitation Coordinator ASAT
As a Supervising Offender Rehabilitation Coordinator (Alcohol and Substance Abuse Treatment), you would be responsible for the overall supervision of the delivery of counseling and case management services involving alcohol and substance abuse treatment by Offender Rehabilitation Coordinators (ASAT) and Alcohol and Substance Abuse Treatment Program Assistants in correctional facilities. You may also be responsible for the overall operation and supervision of the delivery of counseling and case management services to inmates. You would evaluate the performance and progress of staff under your supervision and provide necessary training. You would chair the Treatment Plan Review Committee. You would evaluate the effectiveness of the counseling program for alcohol and substance abuse, and the provision of skilled guidance to inmates with difficult institutional, personal, behavioral, familial, social, and educational problems involving such abuse. You would prepare required written reports after compiling and assessing appropriate data. You would conduct interviews and make recommendations for hiring.

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this title.
On or before the date of examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as follows:
Either 1. Offender Rehabilitation Coordinator (Alcohol and Substance Abuse Treatment) or Offender Rehabilitation Coordinator (Alcohol and Substance Abuse Treatment) (Spanish Language);
Or 2. Offender Rehabilitation Coordinator (including all parenthetics) AND current certification as a New York State Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC);
Or 3. Offender Rehabilitation Coordinator (including all parenthetics) AND one year of service as an Alcohol and Substance Abuse Treatment Program Assistant or an Alcohol and Substance Abuse Treatment Program Assistant (Spanish Language).
