Job Duties

As an Identification Specialist 1, you would supervise lower-level staff, use authorized automated systems to read and interpret state and federal criminal history records, associate fingerprint and other biometric transactions with criminal history records maintained by Division of Criminal Justice Services as the state repository for such information, and identify and resolve errors and conflicts in the data.

Summary of Minimum Qualifications

You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.

On or before the date of the examination, you must be a qualified employee of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Identification Examiner 2.*

Only the title listed is qualifying.

*In order to be appointed to an Identification Specialist 1 position, you must have your Ten Print Examiner certification and/or successful completion of the DCJS Latent Proficiency Test within the past year.
